TE KOHA

Gifted to Ngaruahinerangi in March 2018,
this fireplace is painted with scenes, people and objects that relate to tribal history. Te Koha has been renamed by the people as:
Te Toi o Takuahi, My Heavenly Fireplace. 
It is being looked by the Ngati Hāua hapu of Ngaruahine on a marae in South Taranaki, New Zealand.
Riwha Titokowaru, who featured in Marian Maguire's 2011 series, Titokowaru's Dilemma, is an important ancestor/tupuna of Ngaruahine. It is hoped the fireplace will be used as a prompt for storytelling and discussion on the marae.
